JUDITH ARGOMANIZ
Director and choreographer
Judith Argomaniz trained in San Sebastian, Barcelona, and Madrid. She graduated as a choreographer from the María de Ávila Conservatory of Dance in Madrid, obtaining the highest marks and the extraordinary prize for creation.
In 2017, she received the Revelation Award from the Association of Dance Professionals of Gipuzkoa “for her potential and promising future in the world of choreography and performance.”
For ten years, Argomaniz has been directing LASALA as director and choreographer. She has traveled throughout Spain presenting her work at festivals, theaters, and various national venues such as the Arriaga Theater in Bilbao, the Principal Theater in Valencia, and the Carlos Saura Auditorium in Huesca, among many others, as well as parts of Europe (Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Hungary), and even Taiwan and Canada.
In addition to her work with LASALA, Judith Argomaniz is a guest artist in several companies where she develops new creations.
She was the choreographer for the film DANTZA by renowned director Telmo Esnal.
His creations have won awards at numerous choreography competitions and national and international fairs, such as First Prize at the Concours Chorégraphique Contemporain Jeunes Compagnies – Les Synodales, Sens, France, First Prize at the IX International Dance and Performing Arts Competition Ciudad de Alcobendas, Luxury Awards Festival Prize in the category of BEST USE OF LANGUAGE in a Premium Corporate campaign with the teaser/video for LAUESKU, Audience Award for Best Dance Show at the Huesca International Theater and Dance Fair, Award for Best Street Show in the Basque Country at Umore Azoka Leioa, Award for Best Dance Show at the TAC in Valladolid.
In addition to her creative side, Judith Argomaniz combines her creations with teaching, giving classes and workshops on creative processes and new dramaturgy at conservatories, cycles, and universities (Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila).
In 2013 she created LASALA, whose philosophy consists of investigating in order to generate a contemporary physical, aesthetic language.

In 2015, she created “GIZON HAIEK”, commissioned by Dantzaz Konpainia, for a joint program along with works by Itzik Galili, Jone San Martín, Lukas Timulak and Christine Hassid, which premiered in the Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao.
In 2016 Judith Argomaniz was invited to the Conservatorio Superior de Danza María de Ávila as a specialist teacher, restaging one of her creations.
The French company Cie BIVOUAC invited her as choreographer and ‘outside eye’ for the spectacle “A Corps Perdus- Opus 2” in 2017.
She was choreographer for the film DANTZA by the well-known director Telmo Esnal.
In 2017 she received the revelation award from the Association of Dance Professionals of Guipuzkoa, “for her potential with a promising future in the world of choreography and interpretation”.
